American Electric Power seeks a Station Servicer to install, maintain, inspect, repair and remove station equipment. You may respond to emergencies and coordinate rapid restoration of service while adhering to safety rules and procedures.

Candidate must reside within 45 minutes of the North Charleston Service Center, WV, with CDL, and relevant experience. The role involves heavy equipment operation and collaboration across teams in a dynamic utility environment.

Competenze

• Associate degree or equivalent education/experience in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance.
• 24 months’ satisfactory work experience as Station Servicer A or Station Electrician A.
• Valid Class A CDL required.

Mansioni

• Respond to emergency calls on station trouble; analyze station conditions following failures and repair if safe and practicable, otherwise coordinate prompt restoration of service.
• Perform routine and emergency switching operations at substations as directed by proper authority.
• Perform switching operations for line construction and maintenance activities; be proficient at EHV switching as necessary.
• Inspect assigned stations; oversee maintenance contractors; report major repair needs.
• Independently perform minor maintenance activities (LTC Filter replacements, gas additions to breakers/transformers, fan motors and contactors).
• Repair of FACTS devices and unique station equipment in assigned area.
• Collect data via asset management software; monitor meters, relays, batteries, chargers, temperatures, regulators, pumps, etc.
• Adhere to DC Supply maintenance procedures to ensure NERC compliance and lead DC Supply installation/repair with proper documentation.
• Periodically inspect equipment such as radios, carrier current, telemetering, pilot wire, control equipment to ensure NERC compliance.
• Monitor station inspection workplan progress and report on assigned stations.
• Environmental cleanup and reporting; collect oil samples for periodic testing.
• Inspect station perimeter; coordinate investigations for theft/vandalism with authorities.
• Maintain station lighting and security systems; replace controls, lamps, batteries as required.
• Operate automotive equipment and related equipment; keep tools and work areas clean.
• Maintain records and generate reports using Asset software.
• Assist in safety meetings and training; guide junior staff.
• Assist employees of equal or higher classification; supervise assistants.
