Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a Station Electrician/Servicer to install, maintain, operate, inspect, repair and remove station equipment. Respond to emergencies, coordinate restoration, and ensure NERC compliance.

The role oversees contractors, performs minor repairs and data collection, and maintains safety practices across assigned stations. Education includes an associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance or military equivalent.

Qualifications

• Education: associate degree or military/work experience in electrical maintenance.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Equivalent education/experience may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls on station trouble and coordinate restoration.
• Perform routine and emergency switching at substations as directed.
• Inspect assigned stations and oversee contractors; report major repairs.
• Perform minor maintenance such as LTC filter replacements and transformer work.
• Collect data and monitor meters, renew transformer fuses, and manage equipment.
