Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Substation Structural Engineer to join our Duluth, GA office (with Baton Rouge, LA as a considered location). You will support electrical substation projects, focusing on steel structures, foundations, and rigid bus supports, while coordinating with electrical, civil, and geotechnical teams.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant post-education experience, plus a Bachelor’s in Structural or Civil Engineering and an Engineer in Training certification. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in structural engineering, including design experience supporting electrical substation structures and foundations.
• Engineer in Training Certification and knowledge of structural design principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional structural engineering work supporting electrical substation projects, including steel structures, rigid bus support design, and reinforced concrete foundations.
• Prepare structural calculations, design criteria, and calculation packages to satisfy client standards and project requirements.
• Develop construction specifications (steel and concrete), cost estimates, and technical inputs for proposals and project schedules.
• Produce and review structural drawings and deliverables, including design drawings and fabrication-ready documentation.
• Coordinate with cross-functional disciplines to support integrated substation design solutions.
