Job summary

Actalent is seeking mid-level to senior Relay Technicians for field roles in the Dallas, TX area. You will test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot protective relays and protection-and-control systems at substations and power stations, with regional travel to multiple sites.

The role emphasizes safety, technical excellence, and reliable power system performance. Senior technicians independently plan and lead testing programs, mentor juniors, and coordinate with utilities, EPCs, and service

Qualifications

• Approximately 5 years of relay and protection-and-control (P&C) experience for mid-level technicians.
• 5–7+ years of relay and protection-and-control (P&C) experience for senior technicians.
• Hands-on experience with protective relay testing and end-to-end testing.
• Proven relay commissioning experience in utility substations and power stations.
• Ability to read protection and control drawings and schematics.
• Experience with OMICRON or equivalent relay testing platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead site safety briefings and hazard mitigation at substations and power stations.
• Install, commission, and test substation circuits and protection equipment.
• Perform protective relay testing and end-to-end verification.
• Analyze protection schemes and relay logic to ensure correct operation.
• Review relay settings and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Calibrate electromechanical and microprocessor relays.
• Travel regionally to support multiple sites and projects.
• Mentor junior technicians and lead field projects when required.
