Job summary

Actalent seeks a Relay Technician to test, commission, and maintain protection and control systems across substations and industrial environments. You will validate relay operation, analyze schemes, and support SCADA communications to ensure reliable grid performance.

This travel-heavy role offers growth toward senior and SME positions, with exposure to Omicron/Doble test equipment and modern protection platforms. Local travel within Texas and occasional out-of-state assignments are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in protective relay testing and protection schemes.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and control drawings.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and Modbus/fiber networks.
• Willingness to travel regionally and nationally for field assignments.
• Background in substation design and commissioning is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform protective relay testing for devices from multiple manufacturers.
• Tag and verify relay settings, upload settings to field devices.
• Conduct substation commissioning and functional testing of protection schemes and controls.
• Analyze protection schemes, CT circuits, and wiring for proper operation.
• Support SCADA setup and testing, including communication links.
• Travel to job sites for testing and commissioning activities.
