Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Senior Relay Technician to lead protection and control testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and project execution for substations and industrial facilities. You will guide field teams, ensure safe operations, and deliver high-quality results for complex protection schemes.

The role requires hands-on relay experience, knowledge of relay test software, and strong customer interaction skills. Travel and overtime may be involved as projects demand.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in substations.
  • Troubleshoot distribution and transmission controls circuits.
  • Knowledge of relay test software and protection schemes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety briefings on job sites and enforce safety policies.
  • Analyze protection schemes for power circuits and perform commissioning and testing.
  • Execute end-to-end testing using relay test equipment and software.
  • Read protection schematics, validate configurations, and calibrate relays.
  • Lead root cause analyses for relay trips and system disturbances.
  • Develop project execution plans, outage sequences, and energization procedures.
  • Coordinate field resources and timelines to complete projects.
  • Prepare reports with test results, relay settings validation, and performance summaries.
  • Mentor Relay Technician I/II and junior engineers; interface with clients.
