Job summary

RMS Energy Co, LLC in Colorado is seeking a P&C Field Technician to support protection and control operations through hands-on testing, maintenance, and commissioning of transmission and distribution power equipment in high‑voltage environments.

You will work with relay systems, pilot channels, substation controls, and SCADA data, traveling up to 70% while ensuring safety, reliability, and client satisfaction. Documentation and RMS safety adherence are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with substation relays, commissioning, calibration and panel checkout.
• Familiarity with SCADA, data analysis tools and integration/automation equipment.
• Strong knowledge of three‑phase systems, relays, test equipment, and protection schemes.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and field documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform protection and control relay testing including voltage/current inputs and relay calibration.
• Troubleshoot and repair substation relays and control systems.
• Commission new substations and related equipment, including pilot channels.
• Support field service teams to complete assignments safely and accurately.
• Reference wiring diagrams and apply correct test procedures on power equipment.
• Plan and execute testing activities with minimal supervision and zero interruptions.
• Document work and ensure compliance with RMS safety protocols.
