Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Senior P&C Field Technician to lead advanced testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection and control systems across high-voltage substations. You will work on relay schemes, pilot channel equipment, and SCADA integration to enhance power system reliability nationwide.

The role requires 5+ years in substation commissioning, relay testing, and P&C troubleshooting, with travel up to 80%.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must pass background check and pre-employment drug tests.
• Able to travel frequently (minimum 80%).
• Overtime, weekends, holidays, and night work may be required.
• Annual safety training is required and may involve out-of-state travel.

Responsibilities

• Test and maintain protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor).
• Commission new substations and troubleshoot P&C systems.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and apply testing procedures.
• Plan and execute test activities independently with customer timelines and safety protocols.
• Mentor field technicians and support field staff.
• Communicate effectively with customers, field teams, and operations.
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments under varying conditions.
• Follow strict PPE and safety protocols.
