Job summary

Alabama Power's Protection & Control Field Services (P&CFS) substation team in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking a Field Services Supervisor for the Substation Integration & Automation group. The role leads engineers and technicians in RTU commissioning and maintenance statewide and may require field work and after-hours on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Electrical preferred) from ABET-accredited program with 4 years P&C Field Services field work, or Engineering Technology degree with 8 years field experience.
• Eight years of combined experience in P&C Field Services or related areas is highly preferred.
• Experience testing and commissioning RTUs (DAQ or microprocessor-based) is required.
• Experience establishing communications between IEDs is required.
• Knowledge of NERC CIP requirements for substations is highly preferred.
• Active PE license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the SIA P&C Field Services team.
• Ensure safety behaviors and procedures are followed by employees.
• Promote Safety First and Human Performance principles.
• Manage the SIA work plan for construction, maintenance, and emergent work.
• Provide technical guidance on RTUs and IED communications.
• Ensure compliance with SIA policies and customer service standards.
• Support on-call rotations and after-hours work as needed.
• Motivate and develop staff within the work group.
