Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Protection and Control Engineer to join our Renewables Substation team.

The role leads P&C engineering and design for large scale, transmission-interconnected renewable energy projects, coordinating with relay, SCADA, and Civil/Structural teams. The candidate will work with engineers, designers, and drafters to develop project deliverables, ensuring codes and standards are met while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• 4+ years work experience in high voltage substation P&C design.
• Strong knowledge of substation zones of protection.
• Experience with protection schemes for transmission lines, buses, transformers, cap banks.

Responsibilities

• Lead P&C design for HV (4kV-230kV) and EHV projects.
• Develop drawings: one-lines, three-lines, schematics, BOM, wiring diagrams.
• Perform studies: load calculations, transformer sizing, CT saturation, voltage drop.
• Review vendor submittals and ensure conformance with specs.
• Coordinate with other substation leads; attend project meetings.
• Support procurement and construction activities.
