Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Lead Substation Engineer - P&C to design and deliver high‑voltage protection and control projects.

You will apply NESC, NEC, and IEEE/NERC standards while producing accurate diagrams, schematics, and specifications, and act as Engineer of Record with PE stamping for protection scope. You will guide engineers and coordinate across disciplines, manage client interactions, resolve scope and technical issues, and drive QA/QC across deliverables for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license required.
• 6+ years of experience in substation protection and control engineering.
• Ability to lead engineering teams and guide technical execution across multiple projects.
• Strong understanding of NESC, NEC, IEEE, and NERC PRC requirements.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary efforts and deliver integrated protection solutions.
• Strong communication and leadership skills for client interactions.
• Identify risks, resolve issues, and make decisions with limited oversight.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and protection analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee substation Protection and Control scope across multiple concurrent projects.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) performing final reviews, approvals, and PE stamping.
• Guide engineers, designers, and analysts across projects ensuring standards and study methodologies.
• Coordinate across disciplines to integrate protection with control systems and field implementation.
• Lead client communication and technical strategy discussions on protection philosophy.
• Interpret contracts to align deliverables with contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Identify scope gaps and coordinate resolution with stakeholders.
• Support proposals, estimates, and change orders for protection studies.
• Monitor performance, study quality, and client satisfaction from a technical delivery view.
• Lead project coordination meetings and milestone tracking.
• Contribute to resource planning and staffing for study workloads.
• Oversee QA/QC of P&C design deliverables and ensure industry standards.
• Provide mentorship on protection and control, tools, and industry practices.
• Support procurement, testing, commissioning, and field issue resolution.
