Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a mid-level Protection and Control Engineer for its Renewables Substation team. Lead P&C design for large-scale renewable projects, coordinating with multiple disciplines to ensure compliant, integrated design deliverables.

The role requires 4+ years HV substation P&C design, knowledge of protection schemes, and familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEC/NERC standards. Travel up to 10% is possible.

Qualifications

• 4+ years work experience in high voltage substation P&C design.
• Strong knowledge of substation zones of protection.
• Familiarity with major equipment and specifications.
• Proven ability to develop project deliverables that meet codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of P&C design for HV (4kV–230kV) and EHV (above 230kV) substations, including drawings and schematics.
• Develops studies and calculations (load, sizing, CT saturation, voltage drop).
• Reviews equipment vendor submittals and cross-discipline checks.
• Supports procurement and construction with the Project Engineer.
