Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a mid‑level Protection and Control Engineer to lead P&C design for large-scale renewables substations in Texas. You will coordinate with discipline leads and drafters to deliver compliant, coordinated project drawings and studies.

The role requires 4+ years of HV substation P&C experience, strong knowledge of protection schemes, and proficiency with applicable codes (ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NERC)."

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 4+ years in high‑voltage substation P&C design.
• Strong knowledge of substation protection zones and typical protection schemes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with industry standards (ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NERC).

Responsibilities

• P&C design for high voltage (4kV - 230kV) and EHV projects, including drawings, schematics, BOMs, and enclosure layouts.
• Develop studies and calculations such as transformer sizing, station service loads, and wiring details.
• Review vendor submittals for conformance with specs and project requirements.
• Coordinate with other substation and services leads; participate in project meetings and provide procurement support.
