Job summary

Pike Engineering in the United States (Marietta, GA) seeks an entry- to mid-level engineer to support substation protection and control design, engineering, and project oversight for transmission substations, battery storage, and solar collector facilities. Responsibilities include developing protection schemes, SCADA integration, and coordination studies.

The role requires a foundational engineering degree and up to 2 years of experience, with opportunity for growth in a collaborative team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET/EAC accredited Engineering Program or an approved evaluation by NCEES for non-ABET credentials
• 0 to 2 years’ experience as a practicing engineer
• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles

Responsibilities

• Understand protection and control fundamentals as they apply to utility substation and transmission equipment
• Design protection schemes for substation and transmission line equipment
• Understand SCADA communication design
• Develop understanding of protection and control design for facilities up to 500kV (one lines, three lines, schematics, panels, wiring, settings, relays, SCADA)
• Perform studies and create reports for coordination, voltage drop, fault current, insulation coordination
• Perform calculations and studies using client software and standards
• Interpret specifications and implement on engineering drawings
• Check designs for accuracy and adherence to customer standards
• Collaborate with other design disciplines
• Visit sites to advise on P&C engineering issues and modify designs during construction
