Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking an electrical engineer to provide substation protection and control design, engineering support, and site oversight for transmission substations, energy storage, and solar projects.

You will apply protection fundamentals, develop protective schemes, analyze coordination and insulation requirements, and support design teams across projects. Strong communication and willingness to visit sites are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program or equivalent evaluation, or advanced degree in engineering.
0 to 2 years' engineering experience.
Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.

Responsibilities

Understand protection and control fundamentals for substation and transmission equipment.
Design protection schemes for bus, line, capacitor and transformer protection and settings.
Understand SCADA communication design.
Develop understanding of protection and control design for 500kV facilities including schematics and wiring diagrams.
Perform studies and create reports for coordination, voltage drop, fault current, insulation coordination.
Perform calculations and studies using client software and standards.
Interpret specifications and implement on drawings.
Check designs for accuracy and adherence to standards.
Collaborate with other design disciplines and communicate effectively.
Visit sites, advise on P&C issues, and modify designs during construction.
