Job summary

WSP is seeking a Substations Project Manager to lead HV/EHV substation projects across multiple U.S. offices, including Boise, ID, with remote-friendly options.

You will supervise engineering, procurement, and construction teams, manage budgets, schedules, and risk, and ensure safety and QA/QC adherence throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires 7–10 years of progressive PM experience in HV/EHV substation or utility-scale power delivery, with strong leadership and communication skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience in HV/EHV substation projects.
• 7–10 years of progressive PM experience delivering HV/EHV substation or utility-scale projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with ability to manage scope, schedule, cost and risk.
• Familiarity with QA/QC, safety standards, and the project lifecycle from proposal to closeout.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cross-functional engineering, design, and construction teams delivering HV/EHV substation projects, including budgets, labor hours, cost tracking, and deliverables.
• Develop cost estimates, scopes of work, schedules, execution strategies, and resource plans for utility-scale power delivery projects.
• Create WBS and cost-loaded schedules for engineering, procurement, construction, outage planning, testing, commissioning, and energization.
• Establish technical review requirements, assign qualified staff, and ensure QA/QC and regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to risk registers, contingency plans, and margins for high-risk utility construction environments.
• Coordinate contract negotiation, presentations, and stakeholder meetings.
• Prepare project initiation/setup docs (RMP, PMP, QP, PSP) and requirement plans.
• Provide regular project reporting and monitor earned value, cash flow, and budget performance.
