Ascot Pierce has partnered with an established engineering consultancy to appoint a Substation Project Engineer supporting utility-scale renewable-energy and power-infrastructure projects across the U.S.

This is a hands‑on delivery role for an engineer with strong substation-design experience — in physical design, protection & control, or both — who wants to deepen their technical capability and take on progressively greater project responsibility.

The role

You will support substation design from preliminary engineering through issued-for-construction deliverables, including:

• Engineering calculations covering bus, cable, grounding, AC/DC station service and equipment selection
• Technical studies, including short‑circuit, grounding and arc‑flash work
• Specifications, technical documentation and design packages
• Coordination with project teams, quality reviews and construction‑phase support
• Guidance and support for junior engineers

What they are looking for

• PE licence
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Direct, hands‑on substation engineering experience — ideally 5–12 years
• Physical design, protection & control, or blended substation‑design experience
• Experience delivering engineering calculations and technical design packages
• Utility, EPC or consulting experience
• Wind, solar, BESS or collector‑substation exposure would be advantageous
• A technically engaged engineer who wants to remain close to design and project delivery

Package

• Base salary up to $155,000, dependent on experience
