About The Role
We're looking for a Substation Project Engineer on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment (W‑2). The Engineering & Construction Business Unit is looking for a Substation Project Engineer to join its team in Juno Beach, FL.
You will lead a team of engineers and technical specialists to perform engineering functions and be responsible for all assigned renewable generation substation projects from conception (early stage) through construction and commissioning (execution). The position may occasionally require driving to multiple substation projects across Florida. You will report to the onsite manager.
Location
Juno Beach, FL (preferred) but open to remote.
Key Responsibilities
- In the conceptual phase, work with the Early‑Stage Project Manager to support the engineering requirements and scope with the Development Group. Projects can begin as FERC 1000 transmission project proposals or as greenfield projects.
- Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
- Conduct project meetings and be responsible for project tracking and analysis.
- Provide information to internal and external clients on moderate to complex issues.
- Coordinate with other project team members to develop and secure a substation site and support any engineering updates, data, and permits necessary to design and build the substation.
- Coordinate with other groups to ensure that assigned E&C renewable generation substation projects are successful, representing E&C’s internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presentations/briefings on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certified
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural engineering
- 4+ years’ experience in substation design and engineering of high‑voltage substation projects is helpful.
- Project engineering and project management experience.
- PMP and/or P.E. in a related discipline.
- Some travel required within North America.

Base salary range: $45.00/hr to $50.00/hr, dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills.
