GFT seeks a Physical Designer (Substation) to design high‑voltage substations up to 500 kV, in offices nationwide or fully remote. The role contributes to transmission, distribution and renewable projects, with a focus on safety, reliability and budget adherence.

You will generate designs, perform calculations, prepare general arrangements and conduit layouts, and collaborate with senior engineers to deliver quality engineering deliverables.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant substation or electrical T&D design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Knowledge of NESC, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, and related design guides.
• Ability to develop and review complete construction documents with minimal supervision.
• Experience with writing routine reports and coordinating with vendors.

Responsabilités

• Design and execution of high-voltage substations from 34.5kV to 500kV with emphasis on safety, cost, quality and reliability.
• Generate designs and detailed engineering deliverables under supervision of lead engineer.
• Detail drawings for general arrangement, elevation, grounding and conduit.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and follow design principles.
• Create CAD drawings and related deliverables using standard tools.
• Inspect installations to ensure conformance with standards and specifications.
• Oversee project production to meet schedule and budget.
• Travel to job sites for assessment and data gathering as needed.
