Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation electrical equipment with increasing independence in North America.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and effective troubleshooting, with opportunities for professional development and certification incentives. Travel may be required; a valid driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel out of town.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety policies and use PPE in substation environments.
  • Participate in safety training and job briefings; identify hazards and mitigate.
  • Support safety culture through hazard reporting and safe practices.
  • Test high/medium/low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
  • Inspect, test, and maintain breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding, batteries, and switchgear.
  • Troubleshoot using schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals; escalate complex issues.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance, replacement, and adjustments.
  • Assist commissioning and verify equipment readiness.
  • Document testing, maintenance, and repair per requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and senior techs to complete field activities efficiently.
  • Maintain tools and work areas to standards.

Education

Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic technology
Military experience
NETA II Certified
