Job summary

SAM is seeking a Substation Field Technician to collect field data in electrical substations and along transmission corridors. You will measure conductors, interpret diagrams, and support field crews while traveling across the continental US.

You will handle data, diagrams, and field-to-office tasks with attention to safety and accuracy. The role requires field readiness, 1+ year experience in related roles, and familiarity with GIS systems and Excel.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in substation technician, lineman, or system operator is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 90% of the time.
• Ability to read and interpret substation schematic diagrams.
• Ability to work in the field and carry 30 lbs.
• Experience with field-to-office tasks and Excel files.

Responsibilities

• Work in the field at client sites up to 90% of the time.
• Prepare materials and diagrams to turn into work plans for field crew.
• Interpret field data and identify transmission conductor types and sizing.
• QC/validate field measurements and verify conductor type and ampacity.
• Interface with field crews and management professionally.
• Follow safety procedures and dress code, support other units as needed.
