Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a Substation Field Technician to collect field data in electrical substations and along transmission corridors. You’ll work in a field environment, measuring conductors and equipment using proprietary geospatial software, with up to 90% travel across the continental US.

The role requires reading schematics, sizing conductors, and interfacing with field crews and clients in a professional manner while adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in substation tech, lineman, or system operator is a plus.
• Willingness to travel and work in the field up to 90% of the time.
• Ability to read and interpret substation schematic diagrams.
• Experience with GIS/Geodatabase files is a plus.
• Proficient with Excel and data handling.

Responsibilities

• Field data collection in substations and along transmission corridors.
• Prepare materials and diagrams to turn into field work plans.
• Interpret data to identify conductor types and sizing.
• QC and validate field measurements and images.
• Interact professionally with field crews and clients.
• Follow safety procedures and dress code.
