Job summary

Electric Power Systems seeks a Field Technician II to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substation electrical equipment with increasing independence. You will troubleshoot issues, support field activities with a strong emphasis on safety and quality, and document work in line with project requirements.

Travel may be required; lifting up to 70 lbs, ladders, and safety protocols are essential. This role supports engineers and senior technicians in delivering reliable power system

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic technology or military experience preferred.
• 2–4 years relevant industry experience.
• NETA II certified.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing of high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment with limited supervision.
• Inspect, test, and maintain circuit breakers (SF6, vacuum, LV), transformers (GSU and pad-mounted), instrument transformers, grounding systems, battery systems, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals; escalate complex issues as needed.
• Perform routine and corrective maintenance, including repair, replacement, and adjustment of electrical components.
• Execute functional checks and assist with commissioning activities to verify equipment readiness for service.

Education

Electrical/Electronic technology degree

NETA II Certified

2–4 years industry experience
