Job summary

Group CBS, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform electrical apparatus work onsite at customer facilities, including testing, preventive maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs.

The role involves reading manuals and diagrams, troubleshooting substation components, and assisting with transformer, cable, and circuit breaker testing. Occasional overtime, travel, and safety training are required.

Qualifications

• Familiarize with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
• Ability to assist in complex mechanical and electrical problems.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Must have strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.
• Has demonstrated the ability to be consistently on time for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc.
• Demonstrates organizational skills to include on time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and any other documentation and reporting requirements.
• Demonstrates the responsibility required to keep tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the execution of mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and writing diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
• Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
• Participates in safety meetings and training.
