Job summary

Group CBS in Denton, TX is seeking an experienced Field Service Electrician to perform complex electrical apparatus work onsite at customer facilities, including testing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs.

You will troubleshoot, establish LOTO, train others, interact with customers, write reports, and lead transformer, cable, and circuit breaker testing, with responsibility for safety and timely project execution.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or military experience, preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning.
• Ability to achieve NETA Level III or IV within 6 months of employment.
• Project management experience and ability to support planning, scheduling and cost management of field projects.

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment used in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and diagrams to troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
• Lead tasks: Transformer Testing – Power factor, TTR, insulation resistance, SFRA, winding resistance, partial discharge, leakage reactance.
• Lead tasks: Cable Testing – Insulation resistance, tan delta, hipot, TDR, partial discharge, cable thumper.
• Lead tasks: Circuit Breaker Testing – Insulation resistance, contact resistance, power factor, breaker timing, SF6 gas analysis, CT testing, high current testing, secondary injection testing, vacuum bottle integrity testing.
• Test both electrical-mechanical and solid-state relays.
• Participate in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
• Plan, participate in safety meetings and training.
• Support management in planning, scheduling, execution and cost management of field projects.
