Job summary

Group CBS, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Substation Technician to perform complex electrical work onsite at customer facilities, including testing, maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs.

You will read manuals and schematics, troubleshoot components in substations, lead transformer, cable, and circuit-breaker tests, and ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and DOT regulations. The role requires 10+ years of substation experience, ability to travel, relocate within 60

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED; 10+ years in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning.
• NETA Level III or IV within 6 months of employment.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment used in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean components in a substation.
• Lead tests: Transformer, Cable, and Circuit Breaker testing (insulation resistance, power factor, partial discharge, etc.).
• Participate in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
• Plan and conduct safety meetings and training; support field project planning and cost management.
