Job summary

Group CBS, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician (NETA II/III/IV) to perform electrical apparatus work onsite at customer facilities in the Des Moines area. The role covers testing, preventive maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs, with emphasis on safety and reliability.

You will read schematics, troubleshoot substation equipment, and assist in transformer, cable, and circuit breaker tests. Willingness to travel, work overtime, and relocate within 60 miles is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED; technical degree preferred.
• Experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning is preferred but not required.
• Willingness to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office.
• Ability to travel overnight for multi-day, out-of-town projects.
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol testing; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical apparatus work onsite at customer facilities.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean components in a substation.
• Assist in Transformer, Cable, and Circuit Breaker testing: power factor, insulation resistance, and related tests.
• Participate in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
• Attend safety meetings and training; adhere to safety standards.
