Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC is seeking an Engineering Manager - Substation to lead the substation design teams and provide engineering support across the project lifecycle. The role reports to the Engineering Director and focuses on high voltage substation projects within the QISG platform.

You will oversee planning, design, and construction support, ensuring technical excellence, strong teamwork, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• P.E. license is required.
• Expert understanding of the major components of a substation is required.
• Experience in personnel management.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in the electric utility industry performing detailed engineering for high voltage substation projects.
• Strong technical expertise across structural, civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering and knowledge of relevant industry codes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee projects from inception to completion, including planning, design, construction support, and closeout.
• Supervise a team of engineers, designers, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Evaluate and monitor engineering contractors and consultants.
• Assist in selection, training, and coaching of direct reports to build effective teams.
• Assign tasks to project design team based on project needs and ensure schedule adherence.
• Ensure projects are on budget and schedule with cost-effective solutions.
• Oversee quality control procedures and ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
• Collaborate with designers and project teams to develop solutions and modifications as needed.
• Travel for project needs up to 10-25% of the time.
