E2 Consulting Engineers, LP in Southern California is seeking a Substation Design Engineer to deliver P&C and physical design drawings for a major electric utility project. You will prepare diagrams, wiring, panel elevations, and BOMs, and collaborate with the project manager and clients to meet project milestones.

Candidates should have a BS in Electrical Engineering and 5–8 years of substation design experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in substation design or similar with utility or consulting firm.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs substation P&C and/or physical design, including the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates.
• Performs QA/QC review activities to ensure a quality product.
• Prepares CAD drawings of a complex nature with neatness and a minimum of errors.
• Performs engineering calculations such as conduit and bus sizing, lighting, and grounding grid analysis.
• Ensure all designs conform to client and industry standards.
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with project manager, client, and others.
