Job description

We are seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead the design and delivery of high-voltage substation projects from concept through construction. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary project teams to develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions for new builds and modifications to existing electrical substations.

You will act as a technical lead on projects, ensuring design quality, compliance with industry standards, and successful delivery to client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead substation engineering projects from conceptual design through to completion, ensuring technical quality, budget, and schedule alignment
• Develop full substation design packages including physical layout, protection and control, grounding, lightning, lighting, and auxiliary systems
• Produce and review key engineering calculations (e.g. insulation coordination, AC/DC systems, battery sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop, conduit fill)
• Prepare technical deliverables including design drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and cost estimates in line with IEEE, NESC, and utility standards
• Lead design reviews, QA/QC processes, and field inspections, resolving technical issues during design and construction phases
• Support client engagement, project planning (scope, schedule, budget), and proposal development activities

Qualifications
