Job summary

Dewberry is expanding its Energy Market Sector and seeks a Substation Physical Engineer to lead the growth of our medium and high voltage substation design practice. You will build and mentor a high-performing team while delivering impactful projects for utilities, government entities, and private institutions.

Reporting to the Energy PMO, you will oversee equipment layouts, grounding, cable routing, protection systems, and constructability.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering required.
• 20+ years of experience in medium/high voltage substations.
• PE license required.
• Experience with NEC/NFPA Life Safety Codes.
• Strong leadership and team delegation skills.
• Knowledge of utility substation design standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to demonstrate technical capabilities.
• Coordinate with Energy PMO leadership and client managers.
• Develop technical approach and engineer estimates.
• Lead multi-discipline teams.
• Maintain design quality and schedules.
• Mentor staff and establish standards.
• Oversee design deliverables and QA.
