Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to lead and grow our high voltage substation design practice in the energy market. You will mentor a team and deliver complex design packages for utilities and government clients.

With PE licensure and 20+ years of experience, you’ll supervise cross-disciplinary teams, ensure NEC compliance, and drive standards while advancing Dewberry’s substation capabilities across projects in Virginia and beyond.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering.
• 20+ years of experience in medium/high voltage substation design.
• PE license required.
• Experience with NEC, NFPA Life Safety Codes, and related standards.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet with prospective and existing clients to demonstrate technical capabilities.
• Coordinate with Energy PMO leadership and energy client managers;
• Develop technical approach, engineer estimates, and organize the technical team.
• Collaborate with other groups and offices; manage multi-discipline teams.
• Provide training and mentoring of staff; oversee quality control and budgets.
• Establish and improve design standards; ensure schedules and project budgets are met.
• Promote Dewberry’s culture and long-term client and employee success.
