Job summary

Dewberry is expanding its Energy Market Sector and seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to lead the growth of our medium and high voltage substation design practice in Denver. This is a leadership role to build and mentor a high-performing team delivering impactful projects for utilities and government entities.

The successful candidate will provide technical and strategic leadership across equipment layouts, grounding, cable routing, protection and control systems, and ensure designs meet

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience in medium/high voltage substation design projects.
• PE is required.
• Experience designing HV substations and producing design deliverables.
• Proven leadership skills delegating to engineering and design staff.
• Experience with regulated utility substation design standards.
• Good working knowledge of NEC, NFPA Life Safety Codes, and related codes.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication.

Responsibilities

• Meet with prospective and existing clients to demonstrate technical capabilities.
• Coordinate with Energy PMO leadership and energy client managers.
• Develop technical approach, engineer estimates, and organize the technical team.
• Collaborate with and manage multi-discipline teams.
• Assist with training and mentoring staff.
• Oversee quality control reviews and adherence to QMS.
• Serve as SME for internal team members.
• Provide technical and quality oversight of all project work.
• Establish/improve design standards and schedule adherence.
• Monitor staffing and advise on future needs.
• Support recruitment and talent development in energy group.
