Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to lead the growth of our medium and high voltage substation design practice in Boston. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on technical guidance, and the ability to mentor a team of engineers on complex utility projects.

You will oversee design deliverables, ensure NEC/NFPA compliance, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver safe, reliable substations.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering.
• 20+ years of experience in medium/high voltage substation design.
• PE is required.
• Experience designing medium/high voltage substations and producing design deliverables.
• Proven leadership skills delegating to engineering and design staff.
• Good working knowledge of NEC, NFPA Life Safety Codes, and related Codes.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to demonstrate technical capabilities.
• Coordinate with Energy PMO leadership and energy client managers;
• Develop technical approach, engineer estimates, and organize the technical team.
• Collaborate with other groups and company offices; multi-discipline team coordination.
• Train and mentor staff; ensure quality control reviews and adherence to QA/QC.
