Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group seeks a Design Engineer - Substation to join our Atlanta, GA-based engineering team. You will design substation components, develop protection and control schematics, and prepare drawings and BOMs for planning, construction, and maintenance, reporting to a Supervising Engineer.

You will collaborate with engineers and field personnel, apply NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards, and perform calculations such as voltage drop and grounding analysis.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
• FE exam is highly desirable; required for higher bands.
• Strong curiosity about substation components; prior design/construction experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, raceways, and AC/DC power systems.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
• Produce design drawings, calculations and BOMs for planning, construction, operation and maintenance.
• Perform engineering calculations (voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker, grounding).
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop solutions and maintain documentation.
