Job summary

Quanta-Services' QISG unit seeks a Design Engineer I to perform substation design tasks, including layout and protection & control systems, reporting to a Supervising Engineer and collaborating with designers and field personnel across projects. There are four bands to this title, with progression as skills grow.

You will develop protection schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs and calculations, ensuring NEC/NESC/NEMA/IEEE/ANSI compliance, and you may travel as required to meet project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components, including yard layouts and protection systems.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
• Produce design drawings, calculations and bills of material from engineering documents.
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop and grounding analysis.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Conduct quality reviews and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to deliver project solutions.
• Maintain thorough project documentation and engineering calculations.
• Travel occasionally for project needs and assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
