Job summary

Quanta Services is seeking a Design Engineer - Substation to perform substation design assignments, including physical layout and protection & control systems, ensuring safety and construction standards. You will design components, select materials, prepare documents, and collaborate with engineers and field personnel across multiple projects.

The role reports to a Supervising Engineer and offers growth through a four-band progression as skills and mastery grow, with travel as needed to sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is highly desirable; this is required for the Design Engineer 4 band.
• Curiosity for and willingness to learn about substation components; basic knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components and layouts.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
• Prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material from engineering documents.
