Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC seeks a Design Engineer I in the Chattanooga area to perform substation design, including physical layout and protection & control systems, while ensuring compliance with safety and construction standards.

You will design components, select materials, prepare design documents, and collaborate with engineers and field personnel to ensure project accuracy and efficiency on the QISG platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is highly desirable.
• Curiosity about substation components; basic knowledge is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components, including yard layouts and grounding.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams and BOMs.
• Prepare design drawings and calculations from engineering docs.
• Perform engineering calculations (voltage drop, grounding).
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI standards.
• Conduct quality reviews and propose improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers and field staff on project solutions.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and calculations.
