Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC is seeking a Design Engineer I to perform substation design tasks, including yard layouts, grounding, protection and control systems, and material selection, while ensuring safety and code compliance. You will report to a Supervising Engineer and work with a team of engineers, designers and drafters on projects across the QISG platform.

You will develop drawings, calculations and BOMs, conduct engineering analyses, and ensure project accuracy.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited program or equivalent familiarity with electrical engineering principles.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is highly desirable.
• Strong interest in substation components and protection & control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components including yard layouts and grounding.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
• Create design drawings, calculations, and material lists from engineering documents.
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, grounding, and flicker analysis.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to ensure project accuracy.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and support calculations.
