Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC is seeking a Design Engineer I to join our substation design team. You will perform electrical design tasks for substation projects, including physical layout, grounding, protection and control systems, and coordination with field personnel.

The role reports to a Supervising Engineer and offers growth through experience across the QISG platform. A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required, with FE exam being highly desirable.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited BSEE required.
FE exam desirable.
Willingness to learn substation components; prior design/construction experience desired.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

Design physical substation components including yard layouts, grounding, protection and control systems.
Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
Create design drawings, calculations, and BOMs from engineering docs.
Perform engineering calculations like voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker and grounding analysis.
Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop solutions.
Maintain project documentation and support engineering calculations.
Flag potential problems and propose solutions.
Travel for short periods as projects require.
Perform other duties as assigned.
