Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC (QISG) is seeking a Design Engineer I to perform substation design assignments, including physical layouts and protection and control systems. You will collaborate with engineers and field personnel to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficiency across projects.

The role reports to a Supervising Engineer within a substation design team; progression occurs across four bands as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is highly desirable.
• Curiosity for substation components; basic knowledge is a plus; prior design/construction experience is desirable.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and email software.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; team oriented and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components, including yard layouts and grounding.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Create design drawings, calculations, and BOMs from engineering documents.
• Perform engineering calculations: voltage drop, cable pulling, grounding analysis.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Review work for accuracy and compliance; provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to deliver solutions.
• Maintain project documentation and support engineering calculations.
• Identify and communicate project risks and solutions to stakeholders.
• Travel occasionally for projects and assignments.
