Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, LLC (QISG) seeks a Design Engineer I to perform substation design assignments, including physical layout and protection/controls while ensuring safety and construction standards. You will collaborate with engineers and field personnel to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.

You will develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and material lists, supporting design drawings and calculations.

Qualifications

• Curiosity for and willingness to learn about substation components; basic knowledge a plus
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to work in a team and manage multiple tasks in a complex environment
• Able to deal with ambiguity and work independently

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components, including yard layouts and grounding
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts
• Prepare design drawings, calculations and bills of material from engineering documents
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker and grounding analyses
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards
• Conduct quality reviews and provide recommendations for accuracy and compliance
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop solutions
• Maintain detailed project documentation and support calculations
• Identify and communicate potential project-related problems and solutions to stakeholders
• Travel out of town for short periods as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program
