Job summary

Quanta Services’ QISG design team is seeking a Design Engineer I to perform substation design assignments, including layout and protection & control systems, while ensuring safety and construction standards.

You will design components, select materials, prepare design documents, and collaborate with engineers and field personnel on projects across the QISG platform. Travel may be required, and advancement bands apply as you gain mastery.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree required.
• FE exam passing is desirable.
• Willingness to travel and work with field teams.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components including yard layouts, grounding, and protection systems.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
• Prepare design drawings, calculations, and material lists from engineering documents.
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop and grounding analysis.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and field personnel to develop solutions.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and calculations.
• Travel as required for projects.
