Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer to build and expand expertise in HV and EHV substations and transmission systems in a hybrid work setting. You will collaborate with engineers on project teams and prepare equipment procurement specifications for complex power systems.

Responsibilities include design work, client reviews, and site coordination, with potential travel to client offices. A BS in engineering and strong MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree with strong preference in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering and/or coursework including Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and experience using agentic AI.
• Understanding practical applications of electrical engineering and technology for project design.
• Knowledge of design techniques and tools for producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models with 3D visualization.

Responsibilities

• Work on project teams with other engineers designing new high voltage and extra-high voltage substations and transmission systems.
• Involved in power transmission designs and preparation of specifications for procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs.
