Job summary

Quanta Services is seeking a Design Engineer – Substation to perform layout and protection&control design for substations. You will work with engineers and drafters across projects, ensuring accuracy and safety compliance.

The role involves calculations, material lists, and collaboration to deliver quality design for utility, renewable, and industrial projects. Travel up to 10–25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Passing the FE exam is highly desirable; this is required for higher bands.
• Willingness to learn major substation components and related design knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components, yard layouts, grounding and protection schemes.
• Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists and panel layouts.
• Create design drawings, calculations and bills of material from engineering docs.
