Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group seeks a Design Engineer - Substation to lead layout and protection/controls design, ensuring adherence to safety and construction standards across projects.

The role requires a ABET-accredited engineering degree, with FE exam preferred for higher bands; travel up to 25% is expected while collaborating with engineers and field staff to deliver reliable substations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Passing the FE exam is highly desirable; required for Design Engineer 4 band.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for project assignments.

Responsibilities

• Design physical substation components, including yard layouts, grounding, protection & control systems.
• Develop protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Prepare design drawings, calculations, and BOMs from engineering documents.
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop and grounding analysis.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Conduct quality reviews and provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop solutions.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and calculations.
• Identify and communicate project-related problems to stakeholders.
• Travel for project needs up to 10–25% of the time.
