Job summary

Qualus Corporation is seeking a Substation Design Engineer through the 2027 Engineering Boot Camp. This full-time Engineer I role combines structured training, site visits, and hands-on substation design practice to accelerate growth in the power industry.

As part of the Boot Camp, you’ll work with Protection & Control Engineers, perform CAD drafting, develop layouts and equipment specs, and prepare for the FE exam. A long-term career path with Qualus awaits high-potential engineers.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited school with a focus on power systems.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus.
• Educational experience directly related to working with medium to high voltage electricity is preferred.
• Must work independently with high attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Substation Design Engineers and other groups to ensure design concurrence.
• Design Substations with general arrangements, equipment/electrical layouts, grounding, and AC/DC power systems.
• Perform calculations such as AC/DC load, bus spans, and ampacity.
• Develop equipment/material specifications and design scope/cost estimates.
• Support project teams to meet quality and schedule goals.
• Maintain up-to-date technical skills related to substation design and protection schematics.
