Job summary

Qualus University invites you to join the 2027 Engineering Boot Camp as a Substation Design Engineer, a full-time Engineer I role with structured training and FE exam prep to accelerate your development in the power industry.

In Orlando, you will work with Protection & Control engineers to design layouts, perform electrical calculations, generate BOMs, and support testing, procurement, and plant readiness while growing into a seasoned engineering professional.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil engineering (ABET-accredited) with power systems focus.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (a plus).
• Experience with medium to high voltage electricity preferred.
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to discuss technical recommendations with customers.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design teams to ensure design concurrence.
• Design substations per codes and client standards (layouts, grounding, BOM).
• Perform AC/DC load, bus spans, and ampacity calculations.
• Prepare equipment specs and cost estimates.
• Support project teams to meet deadlines.
