Job summary

Qualus is offering a 2027 Engineering Boot Camp for Substation Design Engineer, a full-time Engineer I role with structured training to accelerate growth in the power industry. Participants will learn from experienced engineers, visit sites, and gain hands-on substation safety and equipment training, with FE exam prep guidance.

Track options include Protection & Control, Power System Studies, Substation Engineering, or Relay Settings, guiding you toward a focused career path within Qualus

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited school with a focus on power systems.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (a plus).
• Educational experience related to working with medium to high voltage electricity.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Substation Design Engineers, Relay Settings Engineers, and other groups to ensure design concurrence.
• Design substations with general arrangements, equipment layout, grounding, cable trench and MOEs per client standards.
• Perform calculations such as AC/DC load, bus spans, and ampacity.
• Create equipment and material specifications for procurement and development of design scope and cost estimates.
• Develop drawings and assist in preparation of design packages using CAD/drafting skills.
• Ensure adherence to design standards and CAD drafting standards and quality control.
