Job summary

Qualus invites you to join its 2027 Engineering Boot Camp as a Substation Design Engineer, pairing a full-time Engineer I role with structured training and hands-on substation exposure. The four-track program lets you specialize while you learn from seasoned engineers, site visits, and substation safety training.

Youll work alongside Protection & Control engineers, learn codes and client standards, and gain CAD drafting experience to develop layouts, elevations, grounding plans, and power

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is a plus.
• Experience working with medium to high voltage electricity preferred.
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Design substations with general arrangements, equipment layouts, grounding, and AC/DC power systems.
• Prepare equipment and material specifications for procurement.
• Develop design packages using CAD/drafting skills.
• Perform calculations such as load, bus spans, and ampacity.
• Support project delivery and maintain design standards.
• Collaborate with teams to meet deadlines and quality goals.
• Learn and apply test procedures for substation equipment.
